The 2019 Nissan Armada is up to the task of hauling anything from groceries to an army of children. The large 8-seat hauler returns in 2019 with a huge V8 engine, standard automatic emergency braking and enough space for a basketball team. With four different trim levels – SV, SL, Platinum and Premium – the 2019 Armada is much more of a luxurious vehicle than its brand would indicate. Its sister vehicle is the Infiniti QX80 and is sold elsewhere in the world as the Nissan Patrol.
Few SUV’s on the market are as well-equipped to transport large families as the 2019 Nissan Armada. The first and second rows are incredibly spacious and the cargo room is-as amazing. The front seats are comfortable enough for short trips to basketball practice or long-haul vacations. As expected, the view from the front seats offers a commanding view of the road. The rear seats accommodate three-people per row with a split bench on all trims. The leg room is accommodating with around 41-inches of stretch space on all levels. With all three rows in place, the interior of the Armada delivers a comfortable 16.5 cubic feet of cargo room, most of which is vertical.
In 2019, each Armada receives standard automatic emergency braking, Bose premium auto, 18-inch wheels and an 8-inch navigation touchscreen monitor in the dashboard. The Platinum and Premium levels have 20-inch wheels, a heated steering wheel, two-tone leather upholstery, second-row captain’s chairs, power liftgate, all chrome everything and dual 7-inch rear seat screens. The Armada SV is the only trim featuring cloth seats but all models receiving the beautiful interior details such as fake wood trim, soft-touch materials and chrome accents. The Platinum and Premium levels have leather accents jumping off the doors. The second-row seats recline on each model to significantly increase the amount of space.
The large 5.6-liter V-8 is powerful and the double-wishbone suspension is compliant and smooth. The engine delivers 390-horsepower with 394 pound-feet of torque allowing for up to 8,500 pounds of towing. The Armada can go from 0-60 mph in seven seconds which is comically fast for an SUV of its size. This is best for shuttling up a mountain and not on the drag strip. The transmission is a 7-speed automatic which couples nicely with the Armada’s four-wheel independent coil-spring suspension. Taller SUV’s, like the Armada tend to lean into corners but this vehicle controls the body motions perfectly.
According to the NHTSA, the Armada received a four-star overall safety rating. The vehicle offers standard automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control and rear-seat reminder at all trim levels. Additional safety features include, blind-spot monitoring, parking sensors, active lane control and a camera-based rearview mirror that is available on the Platinum and Premium levels. Additionally, the large middle row is perfect for a child safety seat. Featuring LATCH anchors, a safety seat can easily be secured into the large row of seating without decreasing the comfort of other passengers.
There is a lot to like about the 2019 Nissan Armada, especially in the performance and safety categories. It can take care of any job imaginable; from hauling wood to hauling an army of children. With four different trim levels, The Nissan Armada provides plenty of options to fulfill the rigorous needs of any family.
